Christmas Lessons Learned

We have been learning ALOT this holiday season, and I thought I would share two that I have been lucky enough to learn this week:

1) Hiding under the Christmas tree is NOT the best hiding spot when playing hide-n-seek. Especially if you have a real tree! I spent yesterday morning soaking and scrubbing poor Mara's head, trying my best to get out the big glob of tree sap that was dried to her head. We had to use rubbing alcohol to get the last bit out.

2) When preparing a package to be mailed, it may not be the best idea to have your 3 year old help. Yeah, it may seem fun and cute at the time, but if she starts to refer to "the package" as "my package", WATCH OUT! The last thing you want to do is then take her to the post office with you as you mail it out, for screams of "GIVE ME BACK MY PACKAGE!" doesn't really help those around you to remain in the Christmas spirit. ( the 10+ people piled into this hot, tiny post office were so not amused!)

Just two of the lessons I have been lucky enough to learn in the past few days.

Can't wait to see what else I don't know about.........

I wouldn't worry about the post office crowd. That place just breeds grinchiness anyway!

Poor Mara, with all that sap on her head. And I can just see the scene with Analese...more embarrassing to Mom. Oh well!

Oh, Analese! She always makes me laugh and I would be the one person laughing at the post office! Poor Mara's sticky head-do you think she learned a lesson, too? (:

yeah, my child is full of spirit! It didn't bother me at all, as I have come to expect her dramatic outbursts :) We had planned to go shopping afterwards, but ended up going right home because she was so upset-kicking the back of my chair and yelling "turn around and get my package!" the whole way home. Even when she woke up from her nap, she looked at me and said "package" under her breath-brought back flashbacks of Adam :)

No, Mara doesn't have a clue as to why we were torturing her head so much...let's just hope it doesn't happen again!

Oh, that's funny! Isn't it amazing how they think? She wrapped it, so of COURSE the package is hers! :) Don't worry about the people in the post office, they were probably chuckling to themselves because they've been in your shoes before, that's all. I guess Mara won't be hanging out under the 'ol tree anymore, huh? Ugh. Poor baby! If all else fails, try that industrial soap, they sell it at Home Depot, it comes in a bright orange container, I think mechanics, etc., use it to get grease off their skin. I can't remember the name of it, darn it, but it's like "Goop" or "Gunk", I don't know! :)

Haha, okay, now I have to know what this "flashbacks of Adam" business is all about...

Maja, I wish we lived closer and could sit down chat together about Adam (: He used to turn into a devil voice when he wanted something and we wouldn't let him have it or do it-it was quite hilarious (:
